《跨文化交际学概论》主要讲的是跨文化交际学。在我国跨文化交际的研究始自80年代初期，时间不算长，但是，发展的速度却相当快。学术杂志发表的论文已达数百篇，专著也已有二三十部。1995年在哈尔滨召开了我国第一届跨文化交际研讨会，并成立了全国性的跨文化交际研究组织——中国跨文化交际研究会。1997年在北京又召开了第二届研讨会。参与跨文化交际研究的包括外语界、对外汉语界、语言学界和心理学界的学者和教授，他们的研究角度虽然不同，但是他们都对跨文化交际学在我国的确立做出了自己的贡献。
